2008 End Appeal Intro
Like other nonprofit organizations, Collective Roots has selected a theme and message for our 2008 year end appeal that we hope inspires you to give to our cause. In our case, it is the children and the communities that we serve that provide the rationale for your support. When we sat down to imagine what kind of message would capture your attention and inspire your support of Collective Roots during these tumultuous economic times, we envisioned the long-term impact of our work on the children we serve.
While Garden-based Learning, Food System Change, and Environmental Action are key elements of our work, our most important focus is fostering young leaders by engaging youth and their communities in programs that impact public health and the environment. We participate in and support school cultures where teachers, parents and students all believe they can go to college and reach for the highest goals in life . . . we believe in our children, and we believe in preparing them for a better future.
There are many signs that Silicon Valley will become one of the world’s most important centers of emerging green technologies. Silicon is Earth’s second most abundant substance (oxygen is the first) and has been the source of incredible wealth in this region. However, Collective Roots believes that children are our most valuable resource—they are the future. The children to whom we teach environmental science today will have the increased potential to work in green technology fields tomorrow.
Collective Roots is an organization that blends earthly substance and precious community resources to enable a better future for our youngest constituents . . . hence the theme of our year-end letter. To help assure our positive growth and to help deepen our "roots" in the community, we encourage you to read our appeal and make your donation today.
