Quinoa

Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa) is a species of broad-leafed plant cultivated in South America for over 5,000 years for its seeds.

These seeds, once rinsed, can be cooked as rice typically is and are particularly nutritious as they contain a balance of essential amino acids. Quinoa, gluten-free, is also high in protein, iron and dietary fiber.

Quinoa is available commercially in both local markets and chains.
