More than 500 People Attend LAUSD School Garden Fair
With many hoping to plant seeds that will result in school gardens sprouting on their campuses, hundreds of school teachers, administrators, parents, students and volunteers flocked to North Hollywood, Saturday, for the 2nd Annual Los Angeles School Garden Resource Fair.
"I applaud the hundreds of educators, students and parents who attended the resource fair because they understand the educational value that campus-based school gardens bring to our children," said Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board Member Julie Korenstein, who addressed the crowd and encouraged educators to launch school gardens on their campuses.
"Science comes to life for school children who are allowed to get their hands a little dirty and apply the concepts they learn in the classroom," she said.
