On October 10th, volunteers and East Palo Alto gardeners will join to establish ten edible  gardens for members of Collective Roots’  Backyard Garden Network.

Why 10/10/10?

350.org, an organization working to combat climate change, has designated 10/10/10 as an international day of climate action.  Over 6,000 events are scheduled in 184 different countries world-wide—including this one!

Why Backyard Gardens?

The way we grow, process, and transport our food contributes substantially to climate change.  Growing food locally and in environmentally sensitive ways helps reduce greenhouse gases and protects our climate.

Why East Palo Alto?

East Palo Alto has a rich and diverse agricultural history.  Throughout the community, people from all different backgrounds have traditions of growing their own food.  As healthy, affordable food becomes harder to access in our community, we aim to bring East Palo Alto back to its roots, and ensure healthy food and a healthy planet for everyone.
