Delicious Health - A City on the Move

Collective Roots Supports the EPA Get Fit Collaborative and Events That Highlight New Efforts to Promote Good HealthCity on The Move

During the first weeks of April, keep your eyes open for an unusual sight: a six-foot carrot running through the streets of East Palo Alto and east Menlo Park (Belle Haven). The purpose: to call attention to a day of free events, on Saturday, April 12, highlighting major community efforts to take charge of nutrition, food access, health, and fitness among residents.

The Get Fit EPA Collaborative will launch City on the Move/Ciudad en Movimiento, a community fitness campaign created by a collaborative of health-care, community, and youth organizations. It includes a new documentary featuring stories from residents and two youth-led projects: a new Get Fit website, and online-video community fitness reports (scroll down to see). People can also check out Delicious Health/Salud Deliciosa, which will emphasize healthy food and draws on East Palo Alto’s agricultural history as it promotes local organic gardening and a soon-to-be opened certified Farmer’s Market. This family event is sponsored by Collective Roots, with support from the East Palo Alto Community Health Roundtable.
