Help Us Grow

Direct seeding flowers

Planting flowersWith the weather warming up and some moisture in the ground, we got to work direct seeding some of our favorite flowers this week, including cosmos. Cosmos grow to 4-5 feet tall and have a steady supply of flowers for months. They are good choice for California's climate because they don't need a lot of water.

Our harvest for the week was 16 lbs. of citrus, including oranges, lemons, and yellow grapefruits. This weekend, we plan to juice a bunch of our yellow grapefruits. We'll freeze the juice and use it in place of lemon juice for salad dressings and other recipes.
