Nonprofits look to Obama for innovative help, reports SF Chronicle
Submitted by wolfram on Mon, 11/10/2008 - 8:20am.Many of us in the nonprofit field will be pleased to read this report by Meredith May in the November 11, 2008 edition of the San Francisco Chronicle:
Bay Area social entrepreneurs are looking to President-elect Barack Obama to keep his campaign promises to invest in the nonprofit world.
Obama has pledged to create a Social Entrepreneurship Agency within the Corporation for National and Community Service, to generate more venture capital for socially conscious startups. The new agency would make it easier for small nonprofits to get federal grants, plus come up with a results-driven accountability system so government officials could make better decisions about which charities to fund.

It's not just the American dollar that's losing value. A government agency has decided that an American life isn't worth what it used to be. The "value of a statistical life" is $6.9 million in today's dollars, the Environmental Protection Agency reckoned in May - a drop of nearly $1 million from just five years ago.
